2020 Volvo XC40 T5 PHEV launches in Europe, confirmed for Oz

Volvo Cars has completed its line-up of plug-in hybrids, launching the XC40 T5 Twin Engine in Europe this week, ahead of an Australian launch before the end of next year. Like the model offered in China already, the XC40 T5 Twin Engine pairs the 134kW/265Nm 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder petrol engine from the T3 variant with an 82hp(61kW)/160Nm electric motor.

Volvo XC40: T3 variant gets auto option in the UK

Volvo Car has added a new transmission option for the entry-level T3 version of the XC40 small SUV, which should further broaden the crossover’s appeal. Introduced as part of some running changes for the European market, the XC40 T3 gets a slightly upgraded 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine for 2019, with power now rated at 163hp (121kW) up from 156hp (116kW).

Volvo XC90 to get Level 4 driverless tech in 2021 - report

The Volvo XC90 is set to get some serious autonomous driving technology early next decade, according to a new report out of the US. Speaking with The Car Connection, Volvo's senior vice president, Henrik Green, said the next-generation XC90 will be able to transport "sleeping passengers" to their destination on "limited roadways" – likely referring to highways and freeways. In emergency situations, the system wouldn't default to driver control either.
