Renault-Nissan leaders to meet over Ghosn's ousting - report

Renault and Nissan will meet to ward off the potential of a power struggle within their alliance, following last week's sensational arrest of chairman and CEO, Carlos Ghosn. The executive, who until last week was one of the highest paid, most respected figures in the automotive world, is accused of under-reporting his income on the Japanese stock exchange, and misusing company funds to the tune of AU$62 million.

Renault Nissan Mitsubishi alliance outlines 2022 plan

The newly minted Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance, complete with a new logo, has laid out its ambitious growth and cost reduction plans for the next six years. A major component of the new plans is to boost the use of common platforms. At the end of 2016, Renault and Nissan produced around two million cars per annum off two common modular platforms. By 2022, the companies hope to produce nine million cars annually off four common platforms.

Mitsubishi: ‘Old product is hurting us’

There’s no hiding it – Mitsubishi has some of the oldest products on the market, and the company’s global chief operations officer reckons that’s his biggest focus under the stewardship of the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Mitsubishi COO Trevor Mann told media this week in Sydney that he wants to see shorter life-cycles and more investment in research and development – meaning newer cars that drive up to the standards of the classes in which they compete.

Mitsubishi Motors joins Renault Nissan Alliance: Official

Nissan has formally acquired a 34 per cent stake in Mitsubishi Motors, and taken effective control of the smaller, scandal-beset Japanese car maker. As part of Nissan's acquisition of a controlling share in the tri-diamond brand, Mitsubishi will join the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

Renault Nissan Alliance to partner with Microsoft on connected-car tech

There's an old joke that has Bill Gates boasting that if General Motors were as advanced as the computer industry, "we'd all be driving cars with V32 engines that got 1000 miles to the gallon". The 1990s-era joke then has former GM boss Jack Smith retort with the idea that a Microsoft-inspired car would crash twice a day and the airbag would ask 'are you sure?' before activating.
