Renault unveils new 1.3-litre turbocharged engine

Renault has unveiled a new petrol engine, developed in tandem with Daimler and alliance partner Nissan. The new 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol mill will debut in the Scenic and Grand Scenic in Europe, with three separate trim levels offered: Energy TCe 115, Energy TCe 140 and Energy TCe 160.

Renault-Nissan Alliance and Dongfeng Motor to co-develop EVs in China

The Renault-Nissan Alliance and Dongfeng Motor Group have announced their collaboration on developing and selling electric vehicles (EVs) in China. Dubbed eGT New Energy Automotive, the joint venture will design and develop a new EV with intelligent interconnectivity, primarily aimed at the Chinese market.

Electric cars ‘need subsidies to get a foothold in the market’: Renault-Nissan chief

The chicken or the egg? Forget that. What about the government subsidy or the electric car? Renault-Nissan Alliance chairman and CEO, Carlos Ghosn, told media this week that in order for electric vehicles to be in the minds of consumers there needs to be government support in the form of subsidies. Without subsidies, Ghosn warned, there is little to no demand from private consumers.

Infiniti reveals world's first market-ready variable compression ratio engine

UPDATE, Nov 22, 2017: Infiniti has now confirmed this new engine will offer 200kW of power and 390Nm of torque in its base form. The engine will debut in the new QX50 SUV. Nissan’s premium arm Infiniti has released initial details of its new variable compression-turbocharged (VC-T) petrol engine, ahead of the unit’s public debut at the Paris motor show on September 29.
