Porsche explains how to pronounce Taycan - video

Porsche has dropped the Mission E moniker for its first electric vehicle, and replaced it with Taycan. Shorter, sure, but much trickier to pronounce. To that end, the brand has released a new video explaining how to correctly address the four-door, four-seat EV. Roughly translated, it means 'lively young horse' – a reference to the rearing horse in the Porsche crest. Check out the video below for the official language lesson.

2020 Porsche Taycan spied

The Porsche Taycan has been spied wearing a little bit less camouflage, and a few more production design pieces. Although false body panels, printouts and tape obscure the look of the headlight and taillight units, we can see one of the Taycan's production alloy wheel designs for the first time.

Porsche Taycan: Mission E's production name revealed, here in 2020

Porsche has announced its first all-electric model, previewed by the Mission E, will be known as the Taycan when it enters production next year. According to Porsche, the Taycan name is a Eurasian word that roughly translates to "lively young horse" and is a reference to the "leaping steed" on the company's badge. The name was announced overnight during an event to celebrate 70 years since it registered its first car, the 356 'No 1' Roadster.

Porsche previews Mission E with Cayman e-volution and Turbo Charging system

Porsche has used the Electric Vehicle Symposium in Stuttgart to provide a peek at its electric future. Along with the one-off Cayman e-volution concept, the company unveiled an 800-volt fast charging system. When it announced plans to produce the Mission E, Porsche claimed owners would be able to charge their cars to 80 per cent in just 15 minutes using an in-house fast charger. The new ‘Porsche Turbo Charging’ system looks set to make good on that promise.
