Ford’s MEB-based EV may use Mustang name – report

Ford’s decision to christen its first all-electric crossover with the Mustang name provoked a, shall we say, passionate response. While controversial, the Mustang Mach-E’s alignment with Ford’s iconic Mustang has helped generate a lot of buzz. Should that translate to sales, Auto Express reports a smaller electric crossover may also adopt the Mustang name.

Ford Mustang Mach-E electric car ready for Australia

The Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV could come to Australia – the only barrier is price, and how many local buyers might want one. A Ford representative in the USA confirmed to CarAdvice at the Los Angeles motor show overnight the Mustang Mach-E will be made in right-hand drive. So far, the UK is the only right-hand drive market announced to take the vehicle, however Australia is likely to follow soon after given there is no technical impediment and no emissions tests to meet.

Ford Mustang Mach-E: Name confirmed for new electric crossover

Ford's first dedicated electric vehicle will be known as the Mustang Mach-E. Although it uses the Mustang name, the EV crossover is expected to share few physical attributes with the coupe and convertible except for badging and some styling cues, such as the tail-lights. In terms of concrete details about the car, Ford has so far revealed it will have a range of 595 kilometres using the WLTP test cycle.
