Ford Mustang Mach-E to be more powerful than initially claimed – report
Ford’s upcoming Mustang Mach-E electric SUV is set to be more potent than initially announced, according to a leaked dealer training document.
The document, shared by Mach-E owner forum MachEForum.com, reveals the controversial crossover will see minor but consistent power and torque gains of 6-10kW and 15Nm respectively across most of the range.
RWD Standard Range - 198kW/430Nm (+8kW/15Nm)
RWD Extended Range - 216kW/430Nm (+6kW/15Nm)
AWD Standard Range - 198kW/580Nm (+8kW/15Nm)
AWD Extended Range - 258kW/580Nm (+10kW/15Nm)
The image posted on the forum doesn’t make reference to the range-topping GT model, suggesting it will continue to production with the same 342kW and 830Nm outputs announced at its reveal back in November.
It’s unclear how the on-paper power and torque gains will affect real-world performance figures, but we’d wager 0-100km/h sprint times would fall by around a tenth of a second.
How these performance bumps will affect driving range is equally unknown – expect final EPA and WLTP test figures to be released in the lead-up to the car’s launch in the northern autumn.
Sadly, the Ford Mustang Mach-E remains off-limits to Australian buyers (for now), despite the availability of right-hand-drive production for the UK.
