Chevrolet Camaro future up in the air

Reports from the USA claim the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro due in 2023 has been put on hold to prioritise utes, SUVs and the rollout of electric cars. However, the iconic muscle car is understood to be safe for the remainder of its current model life – including in Australia, where it is converted to right-hand drive and sold locally by Holden Special Vehicles.

HSV Camaro to be auto-only

Initial specifications for the HSV Chevrolet Camaro have been revealed, and spoiler alert – there's no manual version. The Camaro will be imported and converted in only one spec: outgoing MY18 2SS trim, rather than the facelifted MY19 version. And, according to HSV's website, the V8 sports car will only be available locally with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
