Around the tracks: A car collection from Transformers is up for grabs

Plus, Hyundai launches a clothing line with a twist!

When we’re not creating it ourselves, the Drive team spends a lot of time finding and consuming motoring content from all over the world.

Here’s a handful of the photos, articles, videos or social media posts that most caught our eye last week. Some of them are brand new, others have been online for a while.

Enjoy them – just not too much, okay?

If you've watched the popular movie series Transformers, these cars will look familiar to you. Director and producer Michael Bay is selling four popular vehicles from the franchise – all part of his private collection.

The cars include a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS, which was used in the third instalment and referred to as 'Bumblebee', along with a 2016 Ford Mustang labelled 'Barricade', as featured in Transformers: The Last Knight.

There's also a 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, plus a 2014 Lamborghini Aventador which converted to 'Lockdown' in the fourth chapter.

The cars will be sold collectively for just over $AU2.7 million and come complete with movie footage and associated documentation.

Hyundai launches a clothing collection made out of old cars

Hyundai is embracing its trendy side, with the Korean car maker launching a new clothing collection. These aren't your ordinary tops and pants though, as the range has been made from recycled cars.

The automaker has partnered with L'Eclaireur, a concept store located in Paris, along with a clothing store in Seoul. The three have created a 'capsule' collection boasting 12 items including sports hoodies, pants and jackets.

All pieces are made of recycled or 'upcycled' materials from old cars including used airbags, windscreens and other parts discarded during the manufacturing process. The new collection is called 'Re:Style' and is currently being sold online.

Keith Urban shows off his newly-restored Ford Mustang at SEMA

Keith Urban was on show at the SEMA show in the US, unveiling his recently-restored Ford Mustang. The unique 1969 Ford Mustang has been in the singer's garage since 2008 – gifted to him by Nicole Kidman on their second wedding anniversary.

The car was restored many years ago but as Urban wasn't happy wth the end result, he managed to get Ford involved in the latest refurbishment.

The car has been finished in a rare dark blue which (in the light) looks almost purple, with blue tones. Modifications undertaken include finishing the Mustang with Forgeline wheels wrapped in Michelin tyres, adjustable Bilstein dampers, and new front and rear subframes.

Under the bonnet lies a 5.0-litre V8 with a Roush supercharger, while the interior now includes leather seats, sound deadening, and new air conditioning and heating systems.

A rare Ford is being rebuilt in small numbers with a big price tag

The Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 is being revived in Group A spec, but in limited numbers – three to be exact. Andy Rouse Engineering together with CNC Motorsport AWS are developing the models which, unfortunately, won't be street-legal.

The cars will be based on original Sierra Cosworth bodies including the body kit, exhaust pipes and 'whale tail' spoiler. Under the bonnet the models will be fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder Cosworth 'YB' engines, capable of producing 429kW.

Drawings created for the original car will come in handy as suspension, braking, and various other mechanical elements will be built based on these. Of course these unique newly-built cars won't come cheap, with a starting price of approximately $AU340,000.

The original Sierra Cosworth grew to prominence in Australia through its participation in local touring car racing, winning the 1989, 1988 and controversy-laden 1987 Bathurst 1000 races.

New Yorkers ordered to keep their exhausts quiet

The threat of fines may keep car exhausts quieter in New York. Ironically, the bill just passed is called SLEEP, which stands for "Stop Loud and Excessive Exhaust Pollution."

Fines will now be issued to drivers for exhaust noise violation, with penalties ranging up to $AU1300. The new bill has been created as a result of excessive noise created by illegal drag racing throughout the city – the trend spiking upwards during pandemic lockdowns.

The fines will not only be handed out to drivers, but also to shop owners who are found installing aftermarket exhausts.
