Aston Martin to phase out manual transmissions by 2022, CEO confirms

Aston Martin will phase out all manual transmissions by 2022, CEO Tobias Moers confirmed to Australian journalist in an exclusive interview last month. The British marque retained the three-pedal layout for its new-generation Vantage in 2018 (shown below), and subsequently vowed to be the “last manufacturer in the world to offer manual sports cars”.

2020 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster detailed, here later this year

Aston Martin has detailed the 2020 Vantage Roadster, complete with the world's fastest electrically-operated roof. That's right, the Vantage will go from zero to open-topped in just seven seconds at speeds up to 50km/h – just under twice as long as it takes to go from zero to 100km/h, according to Aston Martin.

Aston Martin Vantage Roadster coming later this year, no V12 confirmed... yet

Aston Martin is preparing to unveil a convertible version of the new-generation Vantage very soon, with the company's creative chief confirming the news this week. Speaking at a media event in Melbourne, Victoria, Aston Martin's chief creative officer, Marek Reichman, said the Vantage Roadster is "all done". "It's ready and waiting," he said, "we'll show it towards the end of this year." "They're going through some of the final testing, [but] the car's all done."

Aston Martin Vantage GT3, GT4 revealed

Aston Martin Racing (AMR) has revealed its new Vantage GT3 and Vantage GT4 race cars ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Based on the new-generation Vantage sports car, the GT3 and GT4 cars aim to build on the successful record of their predecessors, with the GT3 to make its racing debut at the Michelin Aston Martin Racing Le Mans Festival this weekend.
