2015-17 Volvo V40, V40 Cross Country recalled over cooling fault

Volvo Car Australia has recalled 958 examples of its V40 and V40 Cross Country. The recall notice, filed with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), applies to (Model Year) MY2015-2017 examples of the V40 hatch and V40 Cross Country fitted with four-cylinder 'Drive-E' turbo-diesel engines.

The car retains its original 1.6-litre petrol engine tucked away under the bonnet for the daily commute, which sends a respectable 74kW to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. However – when a 'little' more grunt is needed – the driver can spool up the Beetle’s rear-mounted turbine to 26,000rpm, and launch past the traffic with an extra 1006kW at their disposal.
