Isuzu storms the beaches, replaces Holden at Surf Life Saving Australia
Isuzu has donated two dozen D-Max utes and MU-X four-wheel-drives to help patrol more than 300 beaches nationally for the next three years.
Isuzu utes and four-wheel-drives will help keep the nation’s beaches safe over the next three years after a deal was signed to replace longtime sponsor Holden, which left Australia at the end of last year.
Isuzu Ute Australia will donate 22 D-Max utes and MU-X four-wheel-drives to help patrol more than 300 beaches nationally.
The vehicles will be used at popular surfing and swimming locations, but also be used to patrol stretches of beach in remote areas not usually covered.
Surf Life Saving Australia says, eventually, the fleet is expected to grow to more than 60 vehicles nationally.
The Isuzu D-Max utes being used are a mix of base model SX and mid-grade LS-M variants.
All vehicles have been fitted with alloy wheels at the request of Surf Life Saving Australia to prevent the potential for corrosion due to the daily exposure to salt water and sand.
All supplied vehicles have additional rust-proofing, and the Isuzu D-Max utes are equipped with a canopy, a tub liner, tow bar and roof racks.
Both the D-Max utes and MU-X four-wheel-drives are wrapped in Surf Life Saving Australia liveries.
SLSA also equips the vehicles with loud hailers so they can warn swimmers and surfers in dangerous waters.
Some vehicles will be based at certain surf clubs, while others will be used to cover a range of remote beaches.
In a media statement, Surf Life Saving Australia president, John Baker, said the donated vehicles “make our mission in patrolling and protecting our beaches that much easier, allowing us to focus our attention to the safety of our beach-goers.”
