The latest European manufacturer to jump on the matte black bandwagon is Fiat, now introducing the Fiat 500 Blackjack Edition. Cool name, maybe, but are all these matte black specials really that enticing?
In a recent report, BMW announced that its special edition Frozen Gray (matte silver) M3 needs to be washed by a qualified BMW… washer. BMW even had Frozen Gray buyers sign an agreement holding the consumer responsible in the event of ‘accidental’ polishing of the car.
We’re not entirely sure how the black finish holds up to such general maintenance, but BMW said if the matte finish is polished or rubbed with an amount of pressure, the matte finish will come off and, become glossy.
Anyway, this little Fiat 500 Blackjack Edition does look like an angry, menacing little beast. Fine details such as the gloss black mirrors, door handles and bumper bar trimmings really give the chirpy, eco-friendly car some testosterone. Especially the Redback spider-inspired new 16 inch wheels.
