27 June 2017: BMW X3 revealed

The all-new X5 was revealed just weeks ago, and one year ago today saw the debut of the smaller X3.

It's longer, wider and taller than the previous-generation model – including a 54mm-longer wheelbase. The X3 gained host of new driver assistance systems and infotainment technologies, too.

The new X3 went on to launch Down Under in September 2017.

27 June 2016: McLaren P1 LM by Lanzante revealed

If the 'regular' McLaren P1 GTR wasn't cool enough, British firm Lanzante made a road-going version called the P1 LM.

Just as the P1 GTR was a modern version of the F1 GTR race car, the LM paid homage to the road-going F1 LM produced in super-limited numbers.

An array of modifications were required to make the P1 GTR street legal, and just six were ever made – just like the F1 LM.

27 June 2015: Mercedes-AMG A45 gets 280kW

It's not like the original AMG A45 was down on power, but the 2015 upgrade for the A-Class range saw the reworked 'hyper hatch' get a boosted 280kW/475Nm 2.0-litre turbo – up 15kW and 25Nm over the old version.

The extra grunt shaved 0.4 seconds off the claimed 0-100km/h time (4.2 seconds), putting it right up there with AMG's V8-powered models.

26 June 2014: Android Auto launches

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are taken for granted these days, but it's only been four years since Google's system was revealed.

Like the fruit brand's equivalent, Android Auto allows drivers to control, interact with and use their smartphones via their car's built-in entertainment system.

It launched in the US before the end of 2014.

27 June 2013: Mazda 3 revealed

The current-generation Mazda 3 turns five in 2018, and it was this week the Japanese small car made its international debut.

Following the CX-5 and Mazda 6, the new (at the time) 3 received the company's sexy Kodo design language, and offered a range of SkyActiv technologies and powertrains, along with a premium-feeling cabin.

28 June 2010: Maserati GranCabrio launches in Australia

Speaking of ageing current-generation models, it's been eight years since the GranCabrio first went on sale Down Under, complete with a $338,000 price tag.

The drop-top version isn't even as old as the GranTurismo coupe, which was first revealed a decade ago – and it's still on sale.

Like the hardtop, the GranCabrio featured a 323kW/490Nm 4.7-litre V8 at launch, claiming a 0-100km/h sprint of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 283km/h.
