Chrysler 300 SRT Core joins NSW Police fleet
The Chrylser 300 SRT Core has been announced as the newest member of the New South Wales Police Highway Patrol fleet, joining the BMW 530d.
It's likely the V8-powered Chrysler 300 patrol vehicles will replace the outgoing V8 Holden Commodores, while the BMW serves the role previously occupied by six-cylinder Commodore police cars.
Thanks to its 350kW/637Nm 6.4-litre Hemi V8, the Chrysler 300 SRT claims a 0-100km/h sprint time in "the mid-4.0 second range".
Other features include an eight-speed automatic transmission, Brembo high-performance brakes, a rear limited-slip differential, sports suspension and performance-tuned steering.
It's the first time a modern Chrysler has been used for police purposes in Australia, though the company has "years of experience in building law enforcement vehicles globally", namely the Fiat Chrysler group's use of Alfa Romeo and Dodge products in Italian and North American enforcement fleets respectively.
