Wrapped in colourful camouflage and stamped with "#TimeToFocus", it appears the new Focus isn't far from its global reveal, expected to occur sometime early next year.
In terms of the exterior design, the new Focus will be an evolution of the current car - at least going by the overall shape and details of this prototype.
Slim headlights up front flank a chromed grille that's somewhere between the Aston Martin-style unit on the current car and the five-point intakes seen on Audis and newer Hyundais, such as the i30 and Kona.
Getting in a little closer, the Focus has full-LED headlight clusters, with a LED daytime-running light signature that isn't dissimilar to the 'Thor's hammer' design seen on most Volvos.
Out back, the thin LED tail-light strip bears resemblance to the new Fiesta, though runs downwards compared to its sibling's upward flicks. It also looks a little like the Subaru Impreza at the rear, though most of the tail-light clusters are concealed by the colourful wrap.
Comparing the new car and its predecessor, the roofline appears lower on the new vehicle, as does the front end. There's also a more pronounced waistline with wider guards at the rear.
At the rear, the new model sports a wider and athletic look, while the tail-lights split at the tailgate opening rather than curving around the clusters like the current model. The latter should allow for a wider boot opening.
There's no photos of the interior, yet, though it's expected the Focus will get an overhauled cabin with a more up-to-date design and higher-quality materials - a key complaint about the current model.
Small increases in most dimensions are also likely, providing more room for occupants and a larger boot.
For now, though, we'll have to wait until the new Focus's reveal - we reckon it will be unveiled in the early stages of next year, perhaps at the Detroit motor show in January or even the Geneva motor show in March. Stay tuned.
