2015 Renault Megane RS275 Cup Premium hits Australia from $52,990

Renault Australia has introduced the 2015 Megane RS275 Cup Premium, entering above the continuing RS265 Cup as the new top model in the French carmaker’s popular hot hatch line.

Priced from $52,990 plus on-road costs, the RS275 Cup Premium replaces the $47,990 RS265 Cup Premium that launched in Australia in June last year. The change means there is now a $9000 jump between the two series production Megane RS models.

As its name suggests, the RS275 (275hp) is more powerful than the RS265 (265hp) it replaces - which, in modern metric terms, represents a boost from 195kW to 201kW at 5500rpm.

Torque remains steady at 360Nm from 3000rpm, and acceleration from zero to 100km/h is likewise unchanged at 6.0 seconds. Fuel consumption for the RS275 continues that theme, maintaining an official figure of 7.5L/100km on the combined cycle.

Trainspotters will note that the new RS275 Cup Premium’s price is identical to that of the limited-edition RS275 Trophy that was offered in Australia recently, and many of its features are likewise carried over into this new Cup Premium model.

Those include a lightweight Akrapovic exhaust, platinum grey F1-inspired front blade and 19-inch ‘Black Speedline Turini’ alloy wheels.

Other items shared with the RS275 Trophy include Alcantara- and leather-trimmed Recaro front bucket seats, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, gear stick and handbrake grip, and a Zamac alloy gear knob.

Those features join an existing kit from the RS265 Cup Premium that included Brembo front wheel callipers, mechanical limited slip differential, LED daytime running lamps, a reversing camera, R.S. Monitor, R-Link enhanced sat nav with 7.0-inch touchscreen, and dual zone climate control.

The RS275 Cup Premium will be offered in five colours: Glacier White, Diamond Black, Titanium Grey, Pearl White and Liquid Yellow.

As with other Renault models, the RS275 Cup Premium comes with a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

“The Megane RS265 and 275 models are already automotive icons of the Australian street, having won over more buyers here than in almost every other country in the Renault world,” Renault Australia managing director, Justin Hocevar said today.

“Australia has been comfortably inside the top 3 destinations for the Megane RS since its arrival here.”

Renault has moved to sweeten the deal further with an offer of a zero-percent comparison rate through its Renault Financial Services arm, available on all Megane RS265 and RS275 models sold after September 1.
