2019 Volkswagen T-Cross teased
Upcoming crossover previewed in designer sketch and video.
Volkswagen has teased its new T-Cross baby SUV this week in a designer sketch along with a new video posted on YouTube.
The single rear image shows a rather muscular crossover, complete with a tail-light arrangement that spans the width of the vehicle.
Contrasting bumpers and wheel arch cladding complement the skid-plate style rear treatment, and 'T-Cross' lettering adorns the lower portion of the tailgate. Naturally, the production car will be a watered-down version of this sketch.
Volkswagen has confirmed the T-Cross will be revealed in the European autumn (September to November), and will slot under the T-Roc in the brand's SUV line-up, bringing the total number of offerings in Europe to five – joining the Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace and Touareg.
The company says the T-Cross measures just 4107mm long (58mm shorter than a Hyundai Kona), and will be offered solely with front-wheel drive. It'll be based on the same MQB underpinnings as numerous Volkswagen Group models, including the Polo, T-Roc and Golf, along with the Audi Q2 and Skoda Karoq.
Among the promised available features are autonomous emergency braking and lane-departure warning, along with a "surprising amount of room" in the cabin.
We first saw the T-Cross as a drop-top SUV concept at the 2016 Geneva motor show, and recently published the first spy images of the new crossover last week.
