2019 Hyundai Ioniq detailed for the US
More safety tech and upgraded infotainment features for eco-vehicle family
The Hyundai Ioniq has been upgraded in North America for the 2019 model year, gaining additional active safety options and enhanced infotainment services.
For the first time, driver attention alert and high-beam assist are available on select models, while autonomous emergency braking is now standard fit on the popular SEL grade.
Additional changes include "enhanced, natural-language server-based voice recognition and POI search database" provided by HERE for models equipped with navigation systems, while Plug-in and Electric versions are now fitted as standard with remote charge management via BlueLink.
It seems not much else has changed in terms of designs or powertrains, however. The updated 2019 Ioniq range will become available in the northern hemisphere's summer – which starts on June 1.
Australia
Hyundai's local division was unable to confirm whether the additional features added to North American versions will make it to Australian models at launch.
Speaking with CarAdvice, public relations manager Guido Schenken did say, however, the brand plans to launch all three versions – hybrid, plug-in and electric – sometime during the third quarter of 2018.
Stay tuned for all the latest updates.
