2015-2016 Volkswagen Jetta recalled for brake issue
Volkswagen has issued a recall notice for 266 of its Jetta sedans, due to a fault with the braking system’s vacuum pump.
Affecting Jettas fitted with the 2.0-litre petrol engine, the German car maker reports that a drive cam within the vacuum pump may break, causing a loss of vacuum assistance when applying the vehicle’s brakes.
Should this occur, braking effectiveness could be greatly diminished, posing a threat to both the driver and other road users.
This most recent recall is the Volkswagen brand’s third in the past month, with 2011-2016 Touaregs called back for an issue with its brake pedal, and 2015 and 2016 Passat wagons recalled for a problem with the vehicle’s sunroof.
Volkswagen will contact owners of affected vehicles via mail. For more information, customers can call Volkswagen Customer Care on 1800 504 076.
