Subaru's "Dog Tested. Dog Approved" commercials
If you love dogs then these 14 commercials put together by Subaru America are definitely worth watching. They depict everyday problems in cars, except the cars are being driven by dogs (and cats). The commercials aired a few days before the super bowl and have so far proven a big hit in the States.
Here is the one that's gotten the most air...
Toyota 86 drift video & Subaru BRZ commercial
It was bound to happen sooner or later, but the Japanese have finally taken two Toyota 86s to a little drift session. For those that don't know the 86's name comes from the original Toyota AE86 introduced in the early 1980s, which gained a cult following for it's portrayal in Initial D.
The two Toyota 86s, which are basically the same as the...
Subaru: Why we changed our AWD-only strategy
The boss of Subaru Australia says the BRZ sports car’s overarching impression as a “driver’s car” was strong enough to convince the company to divert from its 15-year exclusive all-wheel-drive strategy.
Subaru Australia managing director Nick Senior says despite the BRZ’s rear-wheel-drive underpinnings, the vehicle is in line with...
Subaru XV Review
The Impreza-based 2012 Subaru XV gives Japanese brand another entry into compact SUV segment and brings more convincing interior quality and styling.
This doesn’t seem right, the ’08 XT puts out 169kW and 320Nm at 2800, yet the claimed 0-100km/h is 7.1 and 7.9 for man/auto respectively (source: Subaru website). If I’m not mistaken, the ’07 Forester XT did 0-100 in about 5.9 and 7.0 seconds for man/auto respectively…
I know 0-100 figures are a bit irrelevant in everyday driving compared with say, bottom-end torque and rolling acceleration, but the XT used to be a real sleeper (in a straight line anyway), so what’s happened to it?

the official times for 07 model are actually 6.0 for
manual and 7.6 for auto. the new 08 australian models times\ are yet to be confirmed! But the new model is slightly heavier and has diffrent gearing so will possibly be very slightly slower on take off, but not in gear
accelaration..
Godspeed
Interesting stuff Chris. It seems that either the automatic tranny is not all that efficient – I thought the days were gone when opting for the auto meant more than a second’s drop in 0-100 times…
Perhaps it’s just the pairing of turbo motor and torque converter – when it shifts gears it must go slightly off-boost
Flying High
I would love it if someone could tell me where I could source a spoiler like the one on the STI Rally version

Its mainly in initial launch of the mark you loose out in
a turbo auto because you have to wait for the turbo to spool up as the revs get higher! Where as in a manual you can either dump the clutch at high revs or slip it a bit to get revs/boost going straight away.. but you will find rolling start figures would be about the same!!
