The fresh-faced, second generation BMW X1 has recently been launched in Australia.
After attending the launch event near Coffs Harbour, CarAdvice’s Tegan Lawson decided to get to know the car a little better by driving an xDrive 25i back to Sydney with a videographer along for the ride to document the road trip.
Sapphire Beach to Sydney is around 540km or six-hours behind the wheel from A to B, but we had something a little different in mind.
The plan was to find as much fresh, local produce as possible between Sapphire Beach and Sydney to fill the boot of the X1.
The X1 exterior was designed by Sydney-born Calvin Luk, and is a vastly different car to its predecessor.
It’s taller than before and offers a spacious cabin as well as increased cargo volume at 505-litres.
Even with luggage, there was still plenty of space available, waiting to be filled up with enough fruit and vegies to feed the family for weeks.
The road trip involved a few detours, as the hunt for little stands at the end of driveways, packed with homegrown produce, continued.
After finding a few hidden gems, and stopping in at small roadside stores that stocked locally grown fruit and vegetables, the X1 arrived back in Sydney.
The only thing left to do was decide what to cook for dinner.
