2020 Toyota Yaris to go hybrid

EXCLUSIVE Toyota’s cheapest car is due to get a major makeover and include the option of hybrid power for the first time in Australia. Although a hybrid option has been available overseas in this generation, Toyota dealers have been told the next-generation Yaris, due on sale next year, will be available with a choice of petrol or hybrid. It means the pint-sized Toyota Prius C – at $24,000 currently the brand’s cheapest ticket into a hybrid – will be phased out after eight years on sale.

See bottom of article for details The Toyota Prius C has been given another makeover in its home market of Japan, including the more significant addition of a crossover-style variant. Known back home as the Aqua, the Prius C gets subtle revisions to the headlights, grille, and front bumper, along with reworked tail-lights. Updated wheel and tyre packages complete the exterior changes.

Toyota Prius recall expanded over water pump fault

Another Toyota Prius recall has surfaced just seven days after the news that Toyota would recall 2.76 million vehicles around the world for a steering system fault, including 12,710 second-generation Toyota Prius hybrids in Australia. A total of 8119 second-generation Toyota Prius vehicles have been recalled due to a fault with the hybrid car’s electric water pump.
