Mercedes-AMG's most powerful series-production model, the GT Black Series, has broken the overall lap record for production cars around the Nurburgring Nordschleife.
Recording a time of 6 minutes, 43.616 seconds around the 20.6km layout of the iconic German circuit, the GT Black Series beats the 6-minute 44.97-second time set by the previous record-holder, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, by 1.354 seconds.

Jaguar has added a new vehicle to its Nurburgring Race Taxi fleet, in the form of its all-electric I-Pace crossover.
It's the first time a manufacturer has offered an electric vehicle to cart patrons around Germany's iconic race circuit, not that its zero-emissions credentials mean it'll be slow around a track.
Jaguar is confident the I-Pace's 400PS (294kW)/696Nm dual-motor electric drive system "will be able to cope with any conditions the circuit known as the ‘Green Hell’ has to offer".

Tesla put both its red and blue Model S prototypes on the Nurburgring race track overnight (Wednesday afternoon German time) in its latest attempt to shatter the electric-car lap record of 7 minutes and 42 seconds set by the Porsche Taycan.
And one of the Tesla Model S sedans appears to have a stripped-out interior, not a full production car interior, giving it a significant weight advantage.
