Nissan has unveiled the latest GT3-ready version of its GT-R – the GT-R Nismo GT3 – blending revised driving dynamics with creature comforts like air-conditioning.
Although it looks like the previous GT3, launched in 2015, Nissan has left no stone unturned in search of more speed. The engine has been mounted 150mm further back in the chassis than before, along with a revised suspension tune, new cross members and a fresh dry sump for the engine.
Nissan GT-R Nismo paves the way for more high-performance variants
Motoring enthusiasts around Australia celebrated last week with the local launch of the first full-strength Nismo car, the Nissan GT-R Nismo.
It’s not just Nissan’s new halo model either, it also marks the launch of the Nismo sub-brand here, something Nissan Australia has been pushing for for several years.
Nismo, a short form of ‘Nissan Motorsports’ is the performance arm for Nissan and aims to provide a more exciting driving experience with motorsports-inspired cars for enthusiast drivers.
Nismo Australian launch: GT-R could be first cab off the rank, more planned
Nissan Australia won’t officially confirm when its tuning arm Nismo will launch locally, and there's still no clear picture of which will be the first tuned model to hit showrooms when the brand does eventually arrive.
What is known is that the heavy-hitting Nismo GT-R will be joined by the 370Z Nismo and the Juke Nismo RS in the Australian line-up, though not necessarily in that order. The company is hoping, however, that it will have more than one Nismo model available from launch.
Nissan GT-R Nismo: official specifications revealed
The Nissan GT-R Nismo has been officially unveiled in Tokyo along with confirmation that it has set the fastest volume production car lap record at the Nurburgring.
Official specifications of the Nissan GT-R Nismo align closely with those leaked yesterday, with the "factory-tuned" supercar's twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 engine uprated to 441kW of power and 652Nm of torque – up 37kW/24Nm over the regular GT-R.
