Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator being rebuilt in tents before delivery - report

Both the new Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator are reportedly undergoing extensive repairs before being sent to dealers across North America. According to the Detroit Free Press, Ford is shipping the Explorer and its twin-under-the-skin Lincoln Aviator from their production facility in Chicago, Illinois to another plant in Flat Rock, just outside of Detroit, Michigan, around 440 kilometres away.

2020 Lincoln Corsair unveiled

Lincoln has taken the wraps off its all-new Corsair SUV at the New York motor show, with its sights set on the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3. The MKC replacement will also go head-to-head with the Cadillac XT4 in its home market. Visually, the Corsair looks like a miniature version of the Aviator, Nautilus and Navigator. Up front there’s a smaller interpretation of Lincoln’s corporate grille, separating thin LED headlights and horizontal daytime-running lights.

Ford recalls 1.48 million F-150 trucks in the US

Ford Motor Company has made three separate safety recalls in North America, the largest being 1.48 million F-150 pick-up trucks for potentially faulty transmissions. The manufacturer says F-150 models fitted with the six-speed automatic transmission from 2011-13 may experience an "intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module, potentially resulting in a temporary, unintended downshift into first gear".

Lincoln Aviator badge making a comeback

Lincoln has teased the return of its Aviator badge, previously applied to a reworked take on the Ford Explorer. The new car, likely to be another SUV, will be unveiled at the New York motor show, and joins the Navigator and Continental in the revived luxury brand's lineup. Once the proprietor of Fords with slightly more leather and wood, Lincoln has set about rebuilding itself around the idea of "quiet luxury".

Ford’s luxury brand Lincoln has unveiled a preview for its next-generation Navigator large SUV at the 2016 New York motor show. With gullwing doors and deployable concertina steps that invite passengers to climb aboard, the Navigator concept is not your conventional luxury SUV. The all-new Lincoln Navigator concept introduces what the brand calls ‘quiet luxury’ to its full-size SUV, intended to represent a vehicle and an experience that is “elegant, effortlessly powerful and serene”.
