Jaguar Land Rover recalling 44,000 vehicles for excessive emissions in the UK

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has become the latest automaker to be called out over excessive emissions, with the British firm under fire from authorities for select models built between 2014 and 2018. A new report by industry journal, Automotive News Europe, the European Union's Safety Gate Rapex claims JLR vehicles with 2.0-litre engines (both petrol and diesel) may emit "excessive levels of CO2 and may not conform with the certified condition".

E-Pace: Why is Jag's newest SUV such a fat cat?

It might be classed as a compact SUV, but weighing in at nearly 1.9 tonnes, the new Jaguar E-Pace is up to 380kg heftier than its closest rivals, which include Audi’s ageing Q3, BMW’s X1 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA. And that’s comparing apples with apples, as all four vehicles are powered by 2.0-litre turbo fours, in petrol and diesel forms. Remarkably, the E-Pace is even heavier than its larger F-Pace sibling, which tips the scales at around 1770kg, give or take.
