Certain states pay more for car insurance than others – report

Victorian drivers are paying more for their car insurance than residents of every other state in Australia, a new survey of 2500 Australian motorists has found. According to data from comparison company Mozo, the average annual car insurance premium for a Victorian customer is $1181 – roughly $229 more than the national average of $952.

Motorists travelling to regional areas are being warned to stay vigilant on the roads ahead of a predicted 15 per cent rise in animal collisions from May to August this year, with a major Australian insurance company issuing a warning about "hotspots" for incidents involving animals and cars.
