Haval: Next-generation SUV range not due until 2021

Haval is weighing its future SUV plans in Australia, as it prepares for a new wave of right-hand drive product arriving from China in 2021. The current H2, H6 and H9 line-up looks likely to be bolstered by some combination of the F7, coupe-style F7X, and H6 model ranges currently offered in China. Exactly which remains to be seen, as the company works out an approach that’ll help it cut through in Australia’s overcrowded SUV market.

2017 Haval H6 revealed

This is the new-look 2017 Haval H6 medium SUV, set to go on sale in its native China before the mid-way point of this year, but which remains only a vague prospect for Australia for the time being. The rounder new design, which bears strong resemblance to last year's HR-02 concept, was created by a team led by 'celebrity' design director Pierre Leclercq.

Great Wall's Australian expansion on hold indefinitely

Great Wall’s Australian expansion is on hold indefinitely, with the local distributor of the Chinese brand putting the brakes on the H6 and all other potential new models. Great Wall importer Ateco Automotive initially planned to launch the mid-sized H6 SUV late last year, but spokesman Daniel Cotterill said an unsatisfactory business case meant the model was off the local division’s agenda at least in the short term.
