Fiat outlines its model plans beyond the 500

Fiat has revealed its plans for a range centred around the premium-compact 500, which will sit alongside value-focused larger models in its line-up going forward. "We will be present in the C-segment [Volkswagen Golf class] but not much more. All models will sit within 3.5 metres and 4.5m [long]. This is where Fiat will play," Olivier François, the CEO of Fiat, told Autocar in an interview.

2015 Fiat 500: Pricing and specifications

The updated ‘Series 3’ 2015 Fiat 500 city car has arrived in Australia with some cosmetic tweaks and a gleaming new TFT digital instrument display, but you’ll pay more for the privilege. Now starting at $17,000 driveaway for the entry Pop variant (pictured below), the retro bubble car is $3000 pricier than it was when it was re-launched here 14 months ago by new factory distributor Fiat Chrysler Australia at $14k, and $2000 more than its revised $15k price announced in April this year.

Fiat Panda, Punto and 500 prices change as part of Italian city car shuffle

Driveaway prices for the entry-level versions of the Fiat Panda, Punto and 500 city cars have been shuffled as part of a range re-think. Until recently the stylish Fiat 500 hatch was the starting point in the range, priced from $14,000 driveaway, with the Punto ($16,000 driveaway) sitting between it and the Panda ($16,500). However, the Italian company's local arm has now realigned those three models to reflect their global positioning.

Fiat Panda Chinese copy banned from Europe

In another case which should set a precedence for Chinese manufacturers attempting to import cloned cars into Western markets, an Italian court ruled this week that the Chinese minicar produced by Chinese automaker Great Wall is banned from Europe. The car in questions is the Great Wall Peri minicar (pictured above), which to the untrained eye, looks nearly identical to the Fiat Panda, Europe's best selling minicar.
