Audi has revealed new details in its next-generation production plan this week, as the German luxury marque turns its attention to electric power.

Audi 'Q6' e-tron quattro electric crossover on Australian radar

Audi Australia began its move into vehicle electrification this week with the A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid, but it’s also looking beyond this technology to its first fully electric car.
As we know, Audi will premiere a concept car called the e-tron quattro in a few weeks at the Frankfurt motor show. This crossover SUV concept runs solely on batteries, will have a Tesla Model X-like range of 500km-plus, and will spawn a 2018 production car.
Images that are claimed to be of an Audi electric SUV concept that will debut at the Frankfurt motor show have been published online.
The computer renderings seen here were published by both Auto Bild and Auto Motor und Sport, and are said to come from a source within Audi.
According to Autocar, Frankfurt motor show concept car seen here is referred to internally as C-BEV and previews the look of the upcoming Q6 "coupe" SUV.
As previously reported back in March, Audi is working on a BMW X6 competitor that is likely to be called Q6. The Audi Q6 is planned to slot in between the Q5 and Q7 but with a coupe-like body, just like the X6 from BMW.
As we can see on this Q5 based mule, the Q6 will be slightly longer and also a little wider to give it a more aggressive road-presence. Engines and transmissions is expected to be shared with the Q5 and Q7 models.
