2022 Alpina B8 Gran Coupe: Tuned BMW 8 Series revealed

The 2022 Alpina B8 Gran Coupe – a tuned variant of the BMW 8 Series sedan – has been revealed, with powerful V8 performance, upgraded suspension, tweaked styling, and a reworked cabin. Power comes from BMW’s original 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, uprated to send 457kW/800Nm to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Alpina claims this set-up allows the B8 to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds, on the way to a top speed of 324km/h.

For one, it's offered with a choice of sedan and wagon bodies – something BMW M simply refuses to do.

Audi & BMW to skip Tokyo motor show

Audi and BMW will join a growing list of European brands that are boycotting the Tokyo motor show this year, leaving Mercedes-Benz as the only foreign mainstream luxury marque attending the event. Scheduled to run from October 24 to November 4, the Tokyo motor show is Japan's biggest automotive industry event. Industry journal Automotive News Europe reports several other Euro automakers will be skipping the motor show as well, including Volkswagen, the PSA Group, and Volvo Cars.
