Hyundai i30 N to get more power and eight-speed auto but not until 2021

Hyundai’s i30 N hot hatch is set to get a power bump and a high-performance eight-speed automatic before this generation bows out. A senior executive at the company has also confirmed the Hyundai i30 N has been so successful that it is already working on the next generation. In the meantime, the current Hyundai i30 N has about three years left to run.

2019 Kia K900 has been given the 'Biermann Effect'

Kia's K900 is about to hit the North American market, and the company has revealed customers can expect a little more athleticism from its largest sedan courtesy of Albert Biermann – the Hyundai Motor Group's executive vice president for high-performance development. Speaking with industry journal Automotive News, Kia spokesperson James Bell confirmed the former BMW M boss's involvement in the development of the new K900 to improve the dynamics.

Kia needs no performance sub-brand, says engineering boss

Kia has a younger and more flexible brand image than Hyundai and therefore doesn’t need a separate performance division, according to the chief vehicle tester and high-performance head of both companies, Albert Biermann. Ruling out a Hyundai N-style sub-brand for Kia, 30-year BMW veteran Biermann said the ambitious Korean marque “can stretch much more than the Hyundai brand”, seemingly differentiating the latter as a more conservative unit.

No Australian tuning for Hyundai's new N performance cars

Hyundai's global N Performance engineering boss has said no to local ride and handling tuning for any of the brand's future N Performance products, which goes against the current trend with Hyundai Australia's range. Speaking exclusively to Australian journalists at the Paris motor show, head of vehicle test and high performance development, Albert Biermann, told CarAdvice that N Performance products will exclusively be tuned at the Nurburgring.
