Albert Biermann appointed head of Hyundai R&D

Albert Biermann, former head of BMW M, has been appointed head of research and development at the Hyundai Motor Group. He replaces Yang Woong-chul, who, according to Reuters, will leave the company. Biermann joined Hyundai in 2015 as the company's head of vehicle testing and high performance cars. Prior to that he spent around 30 years at BMW, capping off his career there as the head of the M division.

Hyundai i20 N could be in the pipeline - report

While we've heard plenty about the upcoming Hyundai i30 N, a new report out of the UK suggests the company is considering a high-performance version of the smaller i20 light hatch, which could debut around 2019. Speaking with Auto Express, Hyundai N's boss, Albert Biermann, said the firm is actively looking at other performance vehicles smaller than the i30.

Hyundai's global N Performance engineering boss has said no to local ride and handling tuning for any of the brand's future N Performance products, which goes against the current trend with Hyundai Australia's range. Speaking exclusively to Australian journalists at the Paris motor show, head of vehicle test and high performance development, Albert Biermann, told CarAdvice that N Performance products will exclusively be tuned at the Nurburgring.

Hyundai i30 N prototype puts on 2300km test for 24 hours of Nurburgring

The Hyundai i30 N development car has completed the Nurburgring 24 hours endurance race in Germany this week, completing 91 laps and 2309.39 kilometres. Finishing 90th in the overall rankings out of 159 competitors, the i30 N hot hatch's endurance effort marks another stage in its development ahead of a 2017 debut in the next-generation i30's skin.
