Incumbent hot hatch leader Volkswagen, and aggressive new kid on the block Hyundai, appear unwilling to merely let their cars do the talking, after engaging in a thoroughly entertaining sparring session over the imminent i30 N. Coinciding fittingly with the Australian Open tennis grand slam, Volkswagen Australia managing director this week used the release of the new entry Golf GTI Original variant to not-so-subtly backhand his rival from Korea. Hyundai i30 N to be produced in Czech Republic, production capacity to grow 10 per cent

Hyundai's first N Performance model, the i30 N, will be produced at its Czech Republic plant, which will increase production capacity to cater for the extra demand. Speaking exclusively with CarAdvice, Petr Vanek, public relations director for Hyundai motor manufacturing Czech, told CarAdvice that plant production will increase by 10 per cent in line with the new model coming online.

Hyundai boss confirms testing already commenced on 280kW hot hatch

Hyundai has confirmed to a group of Australian journalists that the company has commenced working on a 280kW hot hatch set to rival the likes of Ford's Focus RS, Audi's RS 3 and Meredes-AMG's A45 in terms of power and torque. Hyundai head of vehicle test and high performance development, Albert Biermann told CarAdvice that he has already driven a road going prototype version of the brand's RN30 concept vehicle and he is very impressed.
