Sunday 7: Car related hang-outs

Cars bring people together.

Drive

Kollector Cars & Coffee, NSW

Just west of Sydney’s CBD, you’ll find Kollector cars and coffee - a local hang out for some, and a fun day trip for others. Treat yourself to baked goods and coffee while wandering through a range of old-school classics.
Kollector also offer haircuts - if you feel inclined - and more recently, a long-term secure storage facility for your pride and joy. They’ll maintain your car's battery charge, tyre pressures and keep it under a dust-free cover.

Drive

Deus Ex Machina Motorcycles, NSW

Deus (pronounced day-us) is similar to the previous, but for two-wheel fans. Located within ten minutes of Kollector, the focus of Deus is to serve “bespoke culinary creations”, while a custom workshop creates one-of-a-kind two wheel beasts, and then sells them.
The business that started in Sydney has grown to locations around the world after Dare Jennings, owner of Mambo clothing, was inspired to establish the business after a visit to Japan in 2006.

Drive

The Bend Motorsport Park, SA

Australia’s newest race track, The Bend, has already proven popular among racers and car enthusiast alike.
Up to eight circuit configurations are available, with a 7.7km GT circuit the longest available, but if screaming around a track at vomit-inducing speeds isn’t for you, the Tailem Bend location plans to offer a 4WD adventure park, rally and off-road circuit as well as a drift kart rallycross circuit by the end of the year.

There's also a cafe in the foyer where you can ogle at some iconic race and sports cars.

Drive

Slideways hire-karting, Gold Coast, QLD

Hire karting for the drift-happy - it’s called Slideways for a reason.
Sodi karts imported from France are fitted with nine horse power Honda engines and take to a “unique” track surface to allow you to drift around the track sideways.
The Gold Coast circuit unfurls over three storeys, giving you a unique experience while having a skid with mates.

Drive

Dutton Garage, VIC

Classic, vintage and collectable, here you’ll find cars on display and on sale.
From a 1962 Jaguar E-Type to a 2016 Mercedes-AMG C63 S, you could spend all day sifting through cars you wouldn’t even see at car shows, like the Koenigsegg CCR or a 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari. You can sip a coffee here, too, as you roam around a dream of your next investment.

Drive

Gosford Classic Car Museum, NSW

Around 400 classic cars make up the largest private classic car collection in the country amounting to well over $70 million.
A place for mates to explore, the warehouse used to be a Bunnings hardware store that was converted almost overnight the collection began in 2015.

Drive

Kustom Kommune, VIC

Kustom Kommune offers bike riders a place to work on their precious metal in a friendly environment with like-minded bikers.
Run by a group of volunteers, the workshop is stocked with specialist tools and machinery. DIY lessons and one-on-one training sessions are also available at an extra cost and a range of membership options are available.
