SsangYong has given its all-new Tivoli compact SUV the electric vehicle treatment in a concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
Called the Tivoli EVR, the concept is a range-extended hybrid powered by a 95kW electric motor matched with a single-cylinder petrol engine used only for recharging the battery.
As you may expect, the EVR’s CO2 output is quite low at 40g/km but the top speed is a not-too-shabby 150km/h.
The concept has an all-electric range of up to 128km, before the petrol engine kicks in to extend the total range to around 500km.
SsangYong is yet to confirm if a production version of the Tivoli EVR is in the works, but such a model could serve as a strong alternative to the likes of Kia’s Soul EV in overseas markets.
