SsangYong reveals e-SIV electric SUV concept
South Korean brand shows off new autonomous, electric concept in Geneva.
SsangYong, the South Korean SUV and Ute builder, used the 2018 Geneva motor show to debut a radically different model.
Sitting alongside the Musso dual-cab ute and Tivoli SUV was the e-SIV, an electric and autonomous urban-friendly SUV concept. While it is the brand’s fifth electric-powered concept, the company says this latest example showcases its “determined approach towards creating a connected mobility solution along with autonomous driving.”
However, the company says it is only Level 2 autonomous capable, which means it can maintain a distance from the car ahead. The company says further sensors are needed to take it to Level 3 autonomy.
The electric powertrain features a 140kW motor and a range of 450km.
But beyond the technology it also showcases the brand’s new design language for its next generation compact SUV. The e-SIV features what SsangYong calls a “new horizon, smart dynamism” style, with smoother, more futuristic lines than its current, more rugged models.
