Renault Captur S-Edition announced
Small SUV range-topper brings more power, better fuel consumption and more kit for minimal extra outlay.
Renault Australia has quietly launched the new Captur S-Edition, which brings a new, more powerful engine and added equipment for $1000 over the existing Intens range-topper.
Headlining the new variant is a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine producing 110kW of power at 5250rpm and 250Nm of torque at 1600rpm.
The new engine was co-developed with Mercedes-Benz, and is shared with the recently launched A-Class hatchback, as well as Renault's own upcoming Kadjar mid-sized SUV.
The S-Edition has a claimed fuel consumption of 5.4L/100km on the combined cycle, which is 0.4L/100km less than the lesser-powered 1.2-litre Captur claims.
Like the rest of the Captur range, only front-wheel-drive will be available. Power is sent to the wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Along with the new engine, the S-Edition adds 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, Alcantara leather upholstery with blue stitching, a Bose premium sound system, a Diamond Black roof, metallic paint and S-Edition exterior badging and sill plates.
Four colour options will be offered, with buyers able to choose between Pearl White, Mercury Gray, Iron Blue and Oyster Gray.
The Renault Captur S-Edition is priced from $32,990 drive-away, with 162 units available nationally.
