Nissan’s Bathurst Pulsar revealed

Limited edition hatch celebrates Japanese brand’s racing heritage.

Nissan is celebrating its history at the Bathurst 1000 with a special edition Pulsar SSS launched at the famous Mount Panorama circuit today.

This year's running of The Great Race marks 30 years since George Fury took pole position driving the Nissan Bluebird; the first turbocharged car to claim the number one starting spot for the race.

Fittingly the Pulsar SSS Heritage Edition will be finished in the same white, blue and red colour scheme as Fury's Bluebird.

Nissan has also finished the Altima V8 Supercar driven by Michael Caruso and Dean Fiore in the same retro paint scheme as part of its heritage campaign.

"Nissan has a proud motorsport heritage in Australia, particularly at Bathurst," said Nissan CEO Richard Emery.

"We have been really pleased with the response to our Bathurst heritage campaign to date. Australian motorsport fans genuinely appreciate the history of the sport and legends such as George Fury."

Mechanically the SSS is unchanged with the same 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 140kW and 240Nm.

However, inside there are unique floor mats and badging to give it special look.

Only 40 examples of the SSS Heritage Edition will be made and will be offered with a drive-away price of $28,990 for the six-speed manual and $31,631 for the CVT model; a significant discount over the standard list price which starts at $29,790 plus on-road costs for the manual.
