Nissan is set to give its hulking Patrol 4x4 an update for the 2018 model year, with minor styling changes and small infotainment upgrades heading the update list.
Off-road enthusiasts and buyers with something frequently attached to the towbar may be disappointed to learn that the Patrol will retain its 298kW/560Nm 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine, with no diesel option being added with the update.
The V8 is linked to a seven-speed automatic transmission with claimed fuel consumption rated at 14.4 l/100km.
Nissan Australia is yet to provide official images of the new model, although the styling updates applied to overseas models as far back as 2013 are expected to give the Patrol a fresh face, including a new front bumper, horizontally-slatted grille, revised fog light housings, and new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside Nissan has taken the opportunity to bring in its latest round of infotainment technology with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, along with added second row accessible USB charging ports and additional front and rear parking sensors to make parking the large SUV easier.
Pricing moves up by $2000 with the updates, the two-model range now starts at $71,990 plus on road costs for the entry-level Patrol Ti and $88,990 for the more highly-specced Patrol Ti-L.
Range-topping Ti-L models also feature larger 8.0-inch rear entertainment screens built into the back of the front seat headrests, replacing the previous 7.0-inch screens.
The Patrol has a full complement of airbags that cover all three rows and the Ti-L variant scores a range of active safety equipment such as blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning and lane departure warning with lane keep assist.
