FOLLOWING YESTERDAY'S official (and early) reveal of the 2011 MINI Countryman, MINI has today released a video showing its newest model cruising casually through a series of mountain passes.
MINI is also reportedly considering a John Cooper Works version of the high-riding Countryman, although details on that front are unsurprisingly scant.
Speaking with Autocar this week, MINI UK General Manager Jochen Goller said that a John Cooper Works edition of the Countryman is "definitely under consideration".
"JCW has been a big success and we'll look at doing it again here [with the Countryman]," Mr Goller added.
Although plans for a JCW Countryman are likely to be more advanced than the brainstorming stage, there is no word on what sort of power figures the range-topping model would produce.
The all-wheel-drive MINI Cooper S Countryman developing 135kW via its turbo-charged direct-injected petrol engine. A JCW version could conceivably produce as much as 165-170kW.
Such a model power boost, along with the all-wheel-drive layout, would also be a boost for any rally aspirations the German-owned British marque might be entertaining - and according to reports from December, that's exactly what MINI is thinking.
