Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the latest generation of the SLK two-seater sports car. The new model receives a restyled front bumper with changes made to the segmentation of the air intakes and a more pronounced V-shape.
The rear has also undergone minor changes for a more aggressive look. The interior has received the biggest change with a new three-spoke sports steering wheel with multifunction controls, as well as a new instrument cluster.
The car now also comes with the NTG 2.5 generation of audio and telematics componentry. This system integrates all audio systems with a built-in hands-free facility with Bluetooth technology.
There is also a new media interface in the glove compartment for iPod lovers.
There are four engines in the new SLK range:
- 2.0-litre four-cylinder - 135 kW, 250 Nm, 7.7 l/100 km. CO2 emissions 182 g/km.
- 3.0-litre V6 - 170 kW, 300Nm
- 3.5-litre V6 - 224 kW, 360 Nm 9.5 l/100km
- 5.5-litre V8 265 kW - 510 Nm.
The SLK range all come with a precision six-speed manual gearshift as standard while the SLK 55 AMG keeps its 7G-TRONIC Sport seven-speed automatic transmission. The SLK 200 can be optioned with a five-speed automatic and the SLK 280 and SLK 350 are available with the AMG spec gearbox for a little bit more.
