Hyundai Getz back to driveaway pricing
On the strength of a booming Aussie dollar, Hyundai has reintroduced nationwide driveaway pricing until June 30 on its Getz, Accent and Elantra LaVita.
The Getz now starts at $13,990 driveaway with free air-conditioning.
"Such an offer has not been seen from Hyundai since before Accents debut three years ago and before that when Hyundai put customer-friendly driveaway-no-more-to-pay on the car purchase map in Australia," Hyundai's director of sales and marketing in Australia, Theo van Doore said.
"The Aussie dollar has been building to its now three-year high and that currency strength brings economies which we are passing on to our prospective customers.
"Driveaway has most appeal to more buyers in the lower priced end of the market where price sensitivity is naturally strongest," Mr van Doore said. "It is also where there are more first-time new car buyers who appreciate the simplicity and transparency driveaway brings to the sometimes daunting process for some of buying a new car, likely to be their second biggest life purchase."
Driveaway pricing remains on the Elantra five-door liftback and four-door sedan from $19,990 with air ($18,990 in WA).
The move to driveaway pricing on its small cars supplements Hyundai's GST-value reductions offer announced last week – and also available only until June 30 – on all its V6-engined models, namely from the Tiburon and Sonata upwards.
Mr van Doore says the main thrust behind the price adjustments is to re-establish Hyundai as the benchmark value for money car brand.
