The new Citroen DS3 Cabrio will be joined by the DS3 Electrum Concept on the French carmaker's stand at the Paris Motor Show.
The all-electric plug-in is powered by two 65kW electric motors, one for each wheel, with energy provided by a 17.5kWh Panasonic lithium-ion battery pack.
Citroen says that the car's range is up to 120km, and can be charged to 80 percent in under thirty minutes using a quick-charge station. The car's plug-in point is hidden behind the standard fuel cap cover.
While Citroen hasn't released any photos, the usual futuristic interior and exterior tweaks are likely to feature, including random LED lighting, grille-replacing panels and unique wheel styling.
Citroen will be looking to the DS3's upmarket styling to draw buyers not convinced by the unconventional styling of Nissan's Leaf or Mitsubishi's i-MiEV.
With EV technologies improving and drivetrains become more compact, Citroen says it is becoming easier to convert fuel-burning cars to electric.
Will we see a production version of the Electrum? This will be one to keep an eye on.
