2024 Genesis G80 unveiled, due in Australia next year

Hyundai's BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class competitor has received a styling and technology update. It is due in Australian showrooms mid next year.

The facelifted 2024 Genesis G80 has been unveiled ahead of an Australian arrival in the middle of next year.

Updates applied to the G80 – the Hyundai luxury division's slowest-selling model in Australia – mirror changes to the facelifted GV80 SUV, with a refreshed exterior and overhauled interior including a 27-inch screen.

Up front Genesis says there is a new grille pattern and Micro Lens Array (MLA) adaptive technology for the headlights, while a new 20-inch aircraft propeller-inspired wheel design is available, plus a new rear bumper with hidden exhaust outlets.

Inside, the separated 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.5-inch infotainment screen have been combined into one wide 27-inch OLED screen, with touch functionality for the infotainment apps.

There are new touch-sensitive air-conditioning controls, a restyled rotary-dial gear selector, and a new steering wheel and centre console.

A G80 Sport package remains available, with a different grille pattern, larger air intakes, restyled bumpers, black and silver trim, and "exclusive interior packages" including a flat-bottomed steering wheel and red or silver "carbon garnish".

Buyers can choose from 10 exterior colours across the G80 range, including a new Brooklyn Brown option.

Details of engine changes are yet to be revealed, and it remains to be seen if the G80 adopts the new GV80 Coupe's 48-volt electric-supercharged 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 in top-of-the-range models.

The 2024 Genesis G80 is due in Australian showrooms in mid-2024. The current model is priced from $85,670 to $114,670 plus on-road costs and options.
