2023 Subaru BRZ prices rise, as orders re-open

Subaru BRZ orders have resumed after the first batch sold out, albeit for a $1300 to $1400 higher price – but this time, there’s no cap on the number of vehicles available.

Order books for the second batch of 2023 Subaru BRZ coupes have opened – but prospective buyers will pay more than those that purchased in the first allocation.

After an initial batch of 500 BRZ coupes was made available late last year – which sold out by mid-December – the second allocation is now available to order via Subaru Australia’s website, or one of the brand’s dealerships.

Unlike the last allocation, there’s no limit on the number of cars available for the new Model Year 2023 batch. Subaru says customer deliveries are due to commence in the third quarter of 2022 (July to September).

However, the second allocation will usher in price rises of $1300 for the base Coupe variant, or $1400 for the Coupe S, the latter of which accounts for about 70 per cent of sales.

The range is now priced from $40,290 to $45,390 before on-road costs – representing the first time a base BRZ has cost more than $40,000 before on-roads, and up on the car’s historical low of $34,520 in 2019.

Standard features are unchanged for the second allocation, with the price rise instead a result of “increased production costs”, according to a Subaru Australia spokesperson.

All models continue to be powered by a 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine, sending 174kW and 250Nm to the rear wheels through a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.

The 2023 Subaru BRZ is due to reach customers from the third quarter of 2022 (July to September). It’s available to order now.
