2023 Land Rover Defender 130 recalled before it arrives in Australia

Land Rover's upcoming seven-seat Defender 130 is being recalled due to a fault with the third row seats.

Jaguar Land Rover Australia has recalled eight examples of its 2023 Land Rover Defender 130 after a fault was discovered with the third-row seats.

Two of the eight affected vehicles in the recall are destined for the Land Rover Defender 130 test fleet, while the remaining six are expected to be demonstrator models.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing issue, the seat backrest locking mechanisms in the third row may not meet specifications and may fail.

"In the event of an accident or hard braking the rear seat backrest could collapse towards the passengers.

"If the rear seat backrest collapses towards the passengers unintentionally, it could increase the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupants."
