2022 Kia Seltos GT-Line FWD price and specs

The flagship Kia Seltos GT-Line small SUV will gain the option of a cheaper 2.0-litre engine and front-wheel drive, rather than turbo power and all-wheel drive – but it will only be available for a few months.

The 2022 Kia Seltos GT-Line FWD Limited Edition will cost $38,790 plus on-road costs once deliveries commence in the coming months.

Due in Kia showrooms by the end of June, the new Seltos GT-Line FWD Limited Edition shares much of its standard equipment list with the all-wheel-drive, 1.6-litre turbo GT-Line variant – but for the first time fits front-wheel drive and a 2.0-litre non-turbo engine, as used on lower-spec models.

Its $38,790 plus on-road costs list price is $3910 less than that of the all-wheel-drive version, alongside which it will be sold for less than six months, ahead of the arrival of the facelifted Model Year 2023 Seltos in the second half of this year.

Drive-away pricing is yet to be announced, though the all-wheel-drive version costs $42,700 drive-away. The one-step-down Sport+ FWD costs $33,790 before on-road costs, or $36,290 drive-away.

Standard equipment in the new variant is largely aligns with the all-wheel-drive GT-Line, including features such as 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, synthetic leather trim, heated and ventilated front seats with power adjustment, wireless phone charging, eight-speaker Bose sound system, a head-up display and more.

However, the front-wheel-drive model misses out on the AWD version's electric sunroof – accounting for some of the $3910 price gap – nor can it be optioned with a black contrast roof.

Under the bonnet of the new Seltos GT-Line FWD Limited Edition is the 2.0-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine available on all other Seltos models, developing 110kW and 180Nm, and powering the front wheels through a continuously-variable (CVT) 'automatic' transmission.

For comparison, the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder previously the sole choice in the GT-Line develops 130kW and 265Nm, aided by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Combined fuel consumption is rated at 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres, with 91 RON regular unleaded petrol supported.

Available colours include Starbright Yellow, Steel Grey, Gravity Grey, Neptune Blue, Mars Orange, Cherry Black and Snow White Pearl, with all except Starbright Yello. All hues bar Starbright Yellow are expected to command a $520 premium.
