2020-2024 Skoda Superb and Octavia recalled due to fire risk
More than 3800 Skoda Superb and Octavia models have been recalled in Australia due to a heat shield that may have been incorrectly fitted.
Skoda Australia has recalled 3801 examples of the 2020-2024 Superb and Octavia, due to a potential manufacturing fault that may cause brake components to melt, leading to a vehicle fire.
The affected vehicles are stamped (and were sold between) 2020 and 2024.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: "Due to a manufacturing issue, the heat shield between the brake master cylinder and the exhaust may have been incorrectly fitted. As a result, a connection to the brake fluid reservoir could melt."

“If this occurs, brake fluid may leak and cause a reduction in braking performance and/or if brake fluid leaks on to a hot exhaust there is a risk of a vehicle fire.
“A reduction in braking performance and/or a vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property.”

Skoda Australia has advised owners of affected vehicles to contact their preferred Skoda dealership to get their car inspected, and rectified free of charge.
