2018 Subaru Liberty – Price And Features
Japanese brand’s mid-size sedan gets a makeover.
Subaru has given its mid-size sedan a refresh for 2018.
The Japanese brand has made several minor alterations to the Liberty family sedan, including updates to the styling, technology and safety.
On the outside the Liberty features a re-worked front and rear bumper along with a revised grille and tweaked wing mirrors.
Inside, the dash has been altered with a larger dashboard panel the focus, plus a new steering wheel and two additional USB ports for back seat passengers.
The Liberty is now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, which is accessed through an 8.0-inch display in the mid-tier 2.5i Premium and range-topping 3.6R variants, while the base 2.5i is equipped with a 6.5-inch screen. The base model also goes without built-in navigation.
All models feature the brand's EyeSight safety technology, which now has lane keeping assistance as standard.
However, the 2.5i Premium and 3.6R models also score additional safety sweetners including: high beam assist, adaptive headlights, front view camera and a side view monitor on the wing mirrors for low speed manoeuvres.
Subaru has worked on the CVT automatic transmission with the aim of making it more responsive and quieter.
Pricing for the range starts at $30,240 before on-road costs for the Liberty 2.5i, which is the same as the outgoing model. The 2.5i Premium and 3.6R are both $400 more expensive at $36,640 and $43,140 respectively.
Engines remain the same with the 2.5i models powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol unit making 129kW and 235Nm and a 3.6-litre six-cylinder petrol engine producing 191kW and 350Nm powers the 3.6R.
All models are equipped with a CVT automatic transmission only that drives – like all Subaru models – all four wheels.
