The Suzuki Alto is nearing the end of its life, and a replacement is expected to surface sometime next year. What that replacement will look like is still a mystery, but thanks to our keen-eyed spy photographers we at least have a few clues to go on.
Spotted while undergoing road trials, this Alto prototype sports some pretty heavy camouflage. Even the roof wears a heavy vinyl shroud, but there are still some hints at the Alto's form.
Early reports suggested that the Japanese-market Suzuki Wagon R would form the basis for the 2014 Alto, however these photos suggest that this won't be the case.
The headlamps are situated higher than the Wagon R's, and the front airdam and upper grille both have a different shape. The Wagon R's tall and boxy rear end is also absent, with the overall shape vaguely reminiscent of the existing Indian-built Alto.
A slight wheelbase stretch is expected, which should translate into better legroom for rear passengers. A taller roof and bigger rear windows will also give the new Alto a more spacious feel.
