Mazda to launch electric car in 2020, plug-in hybrids from 2021

Akira Marumoto, CEO of Mazda, has outlined the automaker's near-term electrification plans, with regulations in Europe and China forcing the Japanese company to add electric and plug-in hybrid models to its range. In an interview with Automotive News Europe Marumoto (below) revealed the company will launch its first electric car in 2020, and it will be based on a Mazda architecture.

2020 Skoda Superb facelift unveiled, here in Q3

The facelifted Skoda Superb has been unveiled overnight in Bratislava, Slovakia. All models in the revised Superb range feature restyled bumpers, narrower LED headlights, full LED tail-lights, Skoda lettering at the back, and a deeper grille. Skoda has also changed the design of the Superb's 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels, added two colours (Crystal Black and Race Blue) to the palette, and introduced double slat bars for some models.

2020 Skoda Superb teased again, here in Q3 - UPDATE

Skoda has previewed the upcoming 2020 Superb facelift once again, giving an early glimpse at the full LED lighting suite that will be available. UPDATE, 14/5/19: Skoda Australia has released initial details for the updated Skoda range, see bottom of article for details. Headlining the new light technology will be full-LED matrix headlights, a first for the Skoda brand. The flagship units consist of an LED module for the dipped and high beam, along with three more LED high beam segments.

2021 Ssangyong Korando Hybrid: Local arm 'absolutely' interested

Ssangyong will reveal a hybrid version of its mid-sized Korando SUV in the second half of 2021, following in footsteps of a pure-electric model set for debut in the second half of next year. Announced with minimal fanfare at last week's Seoul motor show, details about the hybrid Korando are hard to come by at this point.

Jeep Renegade and Compass plug-in hybrids revealed

Plug-in hybrid versions of the Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass have been revealed at the 2019 Geneva motor show, as Fiat Chrysler continues to push electrified power with the Jeep brand. Under the bonnet of both plug-in hybrid crossovers will be a turbocharged 1.3-litre petrol engine. An electric motor for the rear axle allows for on-demand all-wheel drive.
