Mercedes-AMG will look to electric turbochargers in its next-generation models, as it looks for new ways to up power without sacrificing efficiency.
Although the current range of AMG 53 models rely on an electric compressor to drive the turbocharger at low engine speeds in a move to bust lag, the range-topping AMG 63 range blends a 4.0-litre V8 engine with conventional turbos.
Lincoln has taken the wraps off its all-new Corsair SUV at the New York motor show, with its sights set on the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3.
The MKC replacement will also go head-to-head with the Cadillac XT4 in its home market.
Visually, the Corsair looks like a miniature version of the Aviator, Nautilus and Navigator. Up front there’s a smaller interpretation of Lincoln’s corporate grille, separating thin LED headlights and horizontal daytime-running lights.

While the debate about electric cars continues in Australia, a battery-powered ute might be just around the corner.
US start-up Rivian says it is planning to sell its R1T double-cab pick-up and R1S family SUV in Australia, with a possible showroom arrival as early as 2022.
At the 2019 New York motor show, company spokesman Chris Wollen told CarAdvice: “Right-hand drive is coming, it’s been in the plans from the beginning”.

Porsche has revealed its hotly anticipated 911 Speedster, a limited-edition model built to as a salute to the now superseded 991.2 generation 911.
The Speedster is as close to a convertible GT3 as we’ll ever get, and only 1948 examples will be produced – in honour of the first Porsche 356 registered in June of that year.

Mercedes-AMG has facelifted its V8-powered GLC63 midsize performance SUV and SUV coupe, ahead of its debut at the New York motor show.
Powering the updated crossovers is the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine as the outgoing car, which produces an unchanged 350kW of power and 650Nm of torque in GLC63 guise, or 375kW and 700Nm in the top-spec GLC63 S model.
